The LWML IED Retreat Committee from the Marshalltown Zone is working hard to plan a wonderful retreat for July 18-19, 2025 at Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca, Solon, Iowa.

The retreat theme is Mission: Compassion 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”

District Pastoral Counselors, Rev. Jon Ellingworth and Rev. Joseph Vesey along with Marshalltown Zone Pastoral Counselor, Rev. Samuel Beltz are planning Bible Studies, prayers and services for us.

We have 4 Speakers you won’t want to miss:
1. Deaconess Dr. Chrissie Gillet – Word of Hope Ministry, Lutherans for Life, Wisconsin
2. Kolleen Hosford – College Hill Music Conservatory, Cedar Falls, Iowa.
3. Judy Schutte – Community Lutheran School, Readlyn, Iowa
4. Alec Deppe – Director, Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca, Solon, Iowa

There will be an ingathering for Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca, watch for the list in the Alive.

There will be an ingathering of new (nonprescription) sunglasses and homemade eyeglasses cases for MOST Ministries. (See more information in the Upcoming Events: “You Can Help the MOST Ministries Eyeglasses Mission…”)

There will be 2 Servant Events:
1. We will be cutting plastic bags in order to make a plastic “yarn” to be woven into sleeping mats for the homeless. Please collect plastic bags to bring to the retreat. (Slick bags like those from Menard’s are not suitable because they do not hold knots well. Please also avoid bringing any bags that sound like a paper bag when compressed. ) Any color bag is fine. Please bring a pair of scissors, maybe not your fabric scissors though. You may bring a rotary cutter if you wish.
2. We will be creating “thinking of you” cards for Phil’s Friends. Cards will be provided for us to decorate and write on. Donations of postage stamps would be appreciated.

The camp staff will provide excellent activities for children age 3 up to 6th grade on Saturday from 8 am – the closing at 3 pm.

Please take a break from your regular routine to come enjoy a little time away at retreat. You will be blessed through the Worship, Bible Study, Mites in Action speakers, the Prayer Walk, Campfire and fellowship with your sisters in Christ. We can’t wait to see you there!

Watch for the Retreat Invitation issue of the Alive to read all the details and to register. A link will also be provided to register online.
